We'd like to tell you a little about Beauport
and what to expect when you cruise with us.
Beauport is a wonderful little ship and we assume that you've had a chance to check our website www.beauportship.com and look at the pictures. It should answer many of your questions about the layout of the ship as well as whatever amenities are provided aboard.
Beauport is both a private yacht and a working ship, and although equipped with state of the art stabilizers and the latest in navigation equipment, at 169' she is not as large nor as stable as a cruise ship and you should know that she is not totally impervious to rough weather...
Beauport is for the adventurous who likes a little luxury, but who also enjoys getting close to nature and wildlife. If you take pleasure in kayaking, photographing birds and marine mammals in their native habitat, hiking desert trails, and snorkeling with sea lions, you would probably love sharing our adventure. She is indeed the perfect expedition ship to take us to remote islands and deserted beaches.
Our guests are encouraged to entertain themselves while underway.
We do have a well-stocked video and DVD collection, a library full of reference books and seafaring novels, board and card games, a well-designed gym, a steam room, and a 4-person hot tub. The cabins, the living room, and the various decks are all great places to read, play, socialize, or just relax.
Guests who enjoy the Beauport experience tend to be >well-traveled, self sufficient, easy going people who enjoy quiet moments, reading, taking in the ocean's beauty and its abundant life, and sharing past adventure...
What Beauport is all about is having fun while learning about the natural world we encounter as we go. We do not serve afternoon tea at 4 pm, nor do we provide turndown service in the cabins. The priority is to focus on safety and comfort rather than luxury, and this is exactly what our crew aims to do. With a cruising speed of 9 knots, it takes us a little longer to get somewhere as compared to a cruise ship, but getting there is, after all, half the fun!
When we are at anchor we have kayaks available as well as a wind surfer, snorkel and scuba gear, a dive compressor, a 29' Blackfin sport-fishing boat, a 22' Boston Whaler, a 16' RIB, and a Hobie 16 catamaran. Depending on the location, our crew will organize a beach outing, a hike, a fishing trip, or a snorkeling or scuba diving excursion.
Adventure comes in many forms. We can't always guarantee a stop at a particular island or that you will see whales or elephant seals, but we do usually get a mix of perfect sunsets and memorable experiences. It goes without saying that having the right attitude and an ability to roll with the punches play an important role in the positive outcome of each trip.
Due to the amount of stairs and to the fact that there is no elevator guests must be mobile and in good physical condition. Port and a doctor's office are very often a day or two away, which is something to keep in mind.

On any boat, food is very important and Rebecca, our Beauport chef takes pride in presenting healthy gourmet fare. Meals are shared with the officers in the main dining room or, if numbers dictate, in the secondary one as well. Breakfast is a buffet of freshly baked breads and rolls, fruit salad, assorted cereals, and eggs to order.
Lunch is soup, salad, a smorgasbord of cold cuts, or a hot entrée plus desert. For dinner, the dress code is smart casual. Gentlemen wear collared shirts, blazers and jackets being optional, and ladies wear nice pants or dresses. Happy hour is 30 minutes before dinner when appetizers and an open bar are set up. Dinner is an elegant four-course affair of soup, salad, a hot entrée, fresh vegetables, and desert....
The crewmembers, both US and Canadian citizens, are probably our finest asset: Michael Parks, skipper and seasoned veteran holding a 500-ton Coast Guard license; Robbie Browne and Cliff Bryant, engineers; Alex Anderson and Brandon Ellis, deck hands; Lois Haesler, dive master and photographer; Rebecca Hooper, chef; and Monique Bessette, stewardess and logistics coordinator. Each works within his or her expert capacity at making your stay as memorable as possible. Easy-going, soft-spoken and well-mannered, well educated, and fun loving, they are all very likeable.
Beauport is run in a casual yet professional atmosphere....
At the beginning of this letter, we mentioned that we were also a working ship. We have provided support to documentary filming expeditions for Jean Michel Cousteau, and having paying guests on board helps defray part of the operating costs between expeditions.
Beauport is owned by Inter-Media Investments, a Cayman Islands corporation managed by us, the Irvine family. Our primary businesses are "Tropical Tours", providing tours to the cruise ship companies in Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan, Mexico, for the past 25 years, and "Cabo Tenders", a fleet of 10 water taxis providing shuttle service to Cabo San Lucas cruise ships.
